Veterans Services on Third Wednesday
The Virginia Dept. of Veterans Services provides advocates across the state to aid veterans and their dependents in obtaining VA benefits. The Center is pleased to have one of our local agents, John Layman, in the building to provide services on the third Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Service is on a first come, first served basis and no appointments are taken. But Mr. Layman assures us that he will stay late if his schedule permits to meet with each person that arrives within these hours. These services are provided at no cost to the claimant, and is a service of the state of Virginia.
“Although we do not get involved with employment,” said Mr. Layman, “we try to assist with VA claims for compensation, needs based pension, access to the VA Medical Center, some educational benefits, CHAMPVA Health Insurance and other benefits provided by the Veterans Administration.”
If you need assistance at other time you can reach Mr. Layman and our other local agent Ms. Sharon Hammonds at their office in Staunton at the Greenbrier Office Complex, 1600 North Coalter Street. Their phone number is 1-540-332-7840.
